Puffin and Nora, snuggled up in a starry onesie, are up late stargazing. But the stars seem to have lost their lustre. All of a sudden, a loud “aaaaghhhhh!" is followed by a panicky baby-sized puffin flying in through the window. Daddy says, “Oh no! Not another one”. Papa explains that that’s the 10th lost puffling in just that week alone. And so, Nora and Daddy decide to travel to Puffin Island and investigate what’s disorientating the little pufflings. Through several squawks and wing flaps, Nora learns that due to the town’s light pollution, the birds can’t navigate in their usual way. And so, she and Puffin hatch a plan...
A small child tackles light pollution, starting at home and then building up to a town-wide campaign with the help of her classmates. Backnotes offer explanations of light pollution and ways in which we can all reduce it. (A range of families, ethnicities and disabilities captured in later background scenes).
