Subtitled, “A lift-the-flap book about soothing anxiety”. A colourful book reassures young readers that worries are very normal and that it’s also important to find ways to deal with them. 7 children share their own particular anxieties, ones common to many young children: Kai is scared of the dark; Jack is worried about a sick relative; Maya is about to start preschool; Alfie has a new sibling; Anna has climate anxiety; Pari forgot to keep hold of Auntie Nasrin’s hand at the shops; Lola needs to go to the doctor. Each description is followed by the question, “What can … do to feel better about their worries?” followed by suggestions, while also inviting young readers to offer their own. Ends with a little Q&A to see what readers have taken from the text. Highly interactive, with lots of under-the-flaps reveals and very sweet illustrations.
‘At preschool we are experiencing more children with worries and anxiety. This is a lovely book with practical ideas for children to think about’ (Carey, Childminder); ‘Reassuring book about worries- everyone has them. And, several strategies to help with each worry. The Can You Remember? page helps recap and talk about the strategies the children used’ (Rosalind, Project Dev. Mgr., PACEY)- Letterbox Library reviewers. [Kai wears a hearing aid; Anna has a visible difference (face mark); range of ethnicities/skin tones; hijabi woman]. Age 3-7, Boardbook 18pp
