Amir refuses to go to bed. He explains to Dad that there is a monster under the bed with the hugest teeth and the fiercest growl. Dad suggests Amir shows his own teeth and does double the growl. Amir’s not convinced. And so, Dad promises to come at the fearsome beast with a frying pan. And mum, he says, will join in by flapping a huge umbrella. Will Amir’s fears be soothed?

A super-charged monster under the bed tale, set in a South Asian household and based on a popular Rumi story (in a lovely touch, there is a portrait of the Sufi mystic/poet on Amir’s bedroom wall). Age 4-7, Paperback 21pp
