A striking environmental tale which is also a jubilant celebration of difference. A range of black and white and then gorgeously garishly-coloured and then stripy and then spotted creatures make their way across glossy double page spreads, mirroring and taking on each other's characteristics and, always, greeting each other with a friendly "hello!" Culminates in the celebratory refrain, "A world to see / A world to know / Where to begin? / Hello Hello". A beautifully executed picture book with rhyming text and ninety-two (yes, 92!) smiling, beaming creatures who, we find out right at the very end, are all endangered: Brazilian porcupines, elephant seals, veiled chameleons, squat lobsters... Semi-cartoon-like, collage illustrations. Take the time to compare the silhouetted front end with the coloured-in back end pages. 'Really interesting. Really different. Really thought provoking.
