Bright green background. Llama in profile points and laughs. Subtitled 'A book about making fun of others'.

by Sue Graves

illustrated by Trevor Dunton

Subtitled, “A book about making fun of others”. Llama isn’t much liked. He whispered something about Hippo to Tiger; he laughed at Little Lion when he couldn’t reach the top shelf; he told monkey his new trainers looked silly. The other creatures get upset and sad but llama insists he is only ‘teasing’. But then, at After School Club, Llama goes a step too far and the other animals no longer want to play with him. Llama doesn’t like having everyone cross with him…not one bit… can he put things right with a little bit of steering from Mr Croc?

A simple effective lesson in using empathy to challenge bullying. Back notes give useful information on how to share the book with small children, including things to look at before the reading and discussion points/activities for afterwards. ‘"Teasing” is a perennial pastime for some children…schools will welcome a copy as a starter for discussion. Helpful suggestion at the back’ (Eileen, Former Primary Teacher, LL reviewer). Age 4-7, Paperback 25pp
