Girl of colour and white girl play, dropping different objects into water tray. STEM logo in corner.

by Jessica Spanyol

Rosa and pals, Sadiq & Jamil & Lottie, are all set to make their boats. But first they need to work out what their boats need to float.  Which means carrying out all sorts of experiments to discover things like density and displacement.  Which boats will manage to stay buoyant?

Part of a series designed to inspire a lifelong love of STEM subjects with a girl of colour -Rosa- as protagonist. Ideally suited to creator Jessica Spanyol’s always-light and comic touch. ‘The story creates curiosity in science and makes it fun (Ann Marie, EY Safeguarding Consultant, Letterbox Library reviewer). ‘Love the way the children have agency and encourage learning through simple activities’ (Patrice, children's/YA author, Letterbox Library reviewer). [Black lead character; different ethnicities; both Sadiq and Jamil wear two hearing aids]. Age 3-6, Hard cover/card pages 16pp
