“Granny can’t remember yesterday,
But she knows all about the world”.
When Granny was younger, she travelled all across the globe. These days, her legs won’t take her much beyond the door but, says the child protagonist, “she still travels and sometimes she takes me with her”. Granny says they are in Delhi, in Rome, in Jerusalem, in London and in New York. The cities are all illustrated in bright, double page spreads as Granny introduces each one to her grandchild. The adults insist Granny is confused but the grandchild thinks otherwise. As they say, “I think she knows exactly where she is. It just isn’t where the grown-ups are”.
A delightful picture book about a child’s relationship with their grandparent who is living with dementia- which also takes in some of the many wonders of the world. The inside cover has a map of the world with Granny’s destinations marked out and there’s also a helpful backnote about dementia.
‘A really vibrant book and such a good idea to have a granny/grandchild relationship to revisit long term memories’ (Eileen, Former Primary Teacher, Letterbox Library reviewer). ‘A lovely, colourful, exciting book…a really good idea whether a child has experienced someone with dementia or not’ (Meryl, EY Consultant & Trainer, Letterbox Library reviewer). Age 4-7, Hardback 24pp
