A detailed lift-the-flap book which looks at sadness from every angle through many different question headers: “Why do I feel sad?”- both small and big events are suggested as triggers; “Why do we cry?”- for many reasons including happiness and pain; “Do I have to feel sad?”- the reply is “No” but the text goes on to explain that sadness very often needs to be confronted and dealt with. There are just as many answers/solutions as there are questions. Part of Usborne’s ‘Lift-the-Flap Very First Questions and Answers’ series. Extra marks for the “Try drawing your own feelings” section.
‘I really liked this. Particularly the bit about crying. Really well done and nice to have adult men crying too. Very inclusive and nice ideas for how to cheer up’ (Kerry, Letterbox Library Staff). [Characters have a range of skin tones; minor disability representations]. Age 3-5, Boardbook 12pp
